Increasing your department's publications rate

Departments need to maintain a good rate of publications. This is easy- provided that it is approached in the right kind of way. Our courses have helped many young doctors and scientists overcome the barriers to publication. This course reveals how we do so, and looks at how department heads and senior writers can provide support.

By the end of the session you will…

  • understand the publications game, and have new ideas for coaching future winners;
  • help writers make informed decisions on where to publish;
  • have a clear framework for teaching the writing process;
  • provide balanced feedback at appropriate times in the writing process, using objective tests;
  • apply objective tests on style, content and suitability;
  • understand the editorial and reviewing processes and be able to manage the author-editor relationship effectively;
  • set up clear departmental writing policies.

Who should - and should not - attend
This course is suitable for anyone who supervises those writing scientific papers, and who is willing to consider new ideas.
This course is not suitable for those who are content with their department's publication rate, or who are not willing to contemplate any changes. Those who have been on our course Writing a scientific paper should be advised that some of the material is repeated.
