News in brief Licence holders for the course Writing a journal article - and getting it published
|
Training news
Twenty eight people have attended Train the Trainers courses to run the course on Writing a journal article and getting it published. They now have a personal licence to run this course - and their names and details are available on this site. The effective writing course is being turned into a workbook which will be published early next year. Plans to disseminate the material from the short course for medical journal editors are currently under discussion. Tim Albert will be available for advice, projects, short
presentations, coaching, editing work and consultancy.
Contact him on tim@timalbert.co.uk Why am I giving up the courses? by Tim Albert I started as a full-time trainer in 1990 and since then have run more than 1,000 courses in many parts of the world. I have had a great time - and in particular have enjoyed the privilege of helping thousands of people get to grips with writing and editing. There is an element of fatigue, though. The courses have been great fun, but the travelling less so. But this is not the most important reason. For some years I have been aware that trainers have a limited shelf life - and court the danger of staying around too long, often blocking opportunities for those coming along with new approaches and fresher ideas. Some years ago I made a pledge that I would hang up my marker pens at a certain age - and that time has come. But I do not plan to sit and do
nothing. I intend to keep my interests in medical writing
and publishing - and will be open to interesting projects.
